WHAT HAPPENS IN A CHILD OR ADOLESCENT THERAPY SESSION?

I generally meet with you prior to meeting with your child. This meeting can occur on the phone or in a video format. We briefly discuss your child's history and the challenges that they may be facing.

In the first session and subsequent sessions, I meet with you and your child at the beginning of the session to find out what has been working and what hasn't. This information informs my one-on-one session with your child. I meet with you again at the end of the session to share any new tools that your child has been given so that you may assist in implementing them at home.

HOW DO YOU HANDLE CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION?

Everything that your child says is confidential with a few exceptions: 1. if they appear to be an immediate danger to themselves or others, 2. if the child discloses that they or an elder adult is being abused, 3. as required by federal or state laws.

I encourage open communication between the child and parent and always urge frank discussion with the parent regarding concerning topics that do not fall into the above three categories. Generally children want to share with their parents but they don't always have the skills to do so...this is an area that I am excellent at assisting with.

DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?

At this time I take Anthem Medi Cal (not regular Anthem), United Healthcare, Optum and Victim Witness Assistance. For clients that aren't covered by those entities I am able to provide an invoice (or "Super Bill") that they can submit to their insurance company for reimbursement.
